Mileage tracking apps and digital logbooks exist to capture trips automatically — distance, time, and often a business versus personal label — instead of reconstructing a paper log later. Some products are built for tax deductions or reimbursements. Others are fleet ELD or telematics platforms that also record miles.
Zenroad is Damoov’s free, open-source reference app: it records trips and mileage on a smartphone, plus a driving score, with no hardware to install. It is not positioned as an IRS-ready tax logbook. This page compares what each product actually ships.
Zenroad
What it is: Damoov’s free, open-source telematics reference app for iOS and Android. It automatically detects trips, logs mileage, and calculates a driving score — a white-label starting point built on the Damoov SDK, not a consumer tax-logbook product.
What it does: Sensor-based trip detection records distance, duration, route, and timestamps in the background. You can review trips, see safety and eco-driving scores, and tag trips as business or personal (manually or with optional Bluetooth triggers).
No OBD dongle or GPS tracker is required. Best for: Product and engineering teams who want to see Damoov’s stack on a real phone before they embed the SDK — and drivers who want automatic mileage logs without buying hardware.
Honest limit: Zenroad logs trips automatically. It is not positioned as an IRS-ready tax logbook. If you need a deduction-grade mileage report (date, miles, destination, and business purpose in a tax-export format), use a dedicated logbook product below — or build that export in your own app on Damoov.
Track driving metrics with Zenroad
Zenroad also surfaces driving behavior — speeding, harsh events, and phone distraction — and engagement features such as scores and leaderboards. That is the same data layer fleets and insurers evaluate when they trial the SDK. It does not include barcode asset scanning, a paid Zenroad SKU, roadside assistance, traffic reports, or a complete fleet-management suite.

MileIQ
What it is: A consumer and small-business mileage tracker for tax deductions and reimbursements. MileIQ automatically records drives in the background, then lets you classify them as business or personal with a swipe.
Sourced claims: Automatic drive detection; classification by Work Hours, named locations, and frequent drives; tax-compliant mileage reports generated from the app. MileIQ markets itself as a mileage reporting platform, not a telematics SDK. Source: mileiq.com.
Best for: Freelancers, sales reps, and teams who need a dedicated IRS-oriented mileage log — not an open-source driving-score app.
Everlance
What it is: A phone-based mileage and expense tracker. Everlance uses GPS already on the device to log trips automatically, then lets you label work versus personal miles.
Sourced claims: Automatic mileage detection; swipe classification; export of IRS-compliant mileage logs (Everlance’s claim); optional expense sync, receipt capture, and team reimbursements. No additional hardware required. Source: everlance.com.
Best for: Self-employed drivers who want a tax-oriented mileage log plus expenses in one consumer app.
Motive
What it is: A fleet operations platform (formerly KeepTruckin) for professional drivers and carriers — ELD / hours-of-service logs, GPS tracking, and compliance reporting — not a consumer IRS mileage-deduction app.
Sourced claims: The Motive Driver App plus Vehicle Gateway records driving time for FMCSA ELD rules; fleet admins can generate IFTA mileage-by-jurisdiction reports from GPS and odometer data. Hardware (Vehicle Gateway) is part of the ELD path. Sources: Motive ELD, Motive IFTA.
Best for: Regulated trucking fleets that need ELD and IFTA mileage, not a DIY tax logbook.
LBM Fleet (formerly LogbookMe)
What it is: LogbookMe rebranded as LBM Fleet Solutions — an Australia/New Zealand fleet logbook and FBT record-keeping product, not a US IRS consumer app.
Sourced claims: ATO-oriented trip records and odometer readings for FBT logbooks; the companion app is for registered LBM users and requires an LBM-supplied GPS device plus a paid or employee account. Drivers classify trips in the app. Sources: lbmfleet.com, LBM logbooks.
Best for: AU/NZ fleets that need ATO-style FBT logbooks with in-car hardware.
GOFAR
What it is: An automatic logbook that pairs a plug-in OBD adapter with a free iOS/Android app. GOFAR is hardware-first; it is not a phone-only telematics SDK.
Sourced claims: The adapter records trips even if the phone is not in the car; the app classifies business journeys and exports ATO-oriented logbook reports. Optional in-car feedback (GOFAR Ray) and vehicle-health monitoring are marketed separately. Source: gofar.co.
Best for: Drivers who want a leave-in OBD logger for tax logbooks, and who accept installing a device.
Azuga FleetMobile
What it is: The driver/admin companion app for Azuga Fleet — trip logs and safety scores for subscribed fleets, not a standalone consumer mileage tracker.
Sourced claims: FleetMobile records trip logs (start, destination, stops, distance, speed, idle time) and lets drivers tag trips as business or personal. Safety scores, rewards, and timecards are part of the fleet product. Trip data comes from Azuga’s GPS / OBD-II devices; an Azuga Fleet account is required. Sources: azuga.com/fleet-mobile, Google Play listing for Azuga FleetMobile.
Best for: Fleets already on Azuga who need driver-facing trip tags and scores.
Don’t start from a blank screen
If you are comparing mileage apps because you plan to ship trip logging — not file a personal tax return — don’t start from a blank screen. Zenroad is Damoov’s open-source reference implementation of automatic trip detection, mileage, and driving scores. Clone it, get a sandbox, and add the SDK to your product.
The Damoov SDK handles trip detection, sensor fusion, events, and scoring on iOS and Android. The API returns trip records, mileage, and scores to your backend. It does not add keyless entry, remote start, or vehicle unlocking — those are not Damoov products.
Try it, or build it
Try: Try Zenroad on a phone — trips, mileage, and a driving score, no hardware.
Build: Don’t start from a blank screen. View source (GitHub org) and the Zenroad reference app, then Start free in DataHub. SDK docs: Add the SDK to your app.
